Send only the pages that matter

Documents are rarely the right length. A 40-page statement holds one page your accountant needs. A scanned packet contains the single form a clinic asked for. Faxing the whole thing wastes transmission time, clutters the recipient's records, and can expose information that was never meant to leave your hands. Splitting lets you pull out exactly the pages you want and send nothing else.

How to split a PDF

  1. Drop your PDF into the box above.
  2. Type the pages you want in the range field. Use commas for single pages and hyphens for ranges, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10.
  3. The tool shows you which pages it will extract before you commit.
  4. Click Extract Pages, then download the new PDF or fax it directly.

The page numbers match what you see in your PDF viewer, so there is no zero-counting to get wrong.

Ways people use Split PDF

  • Extract one signed page from a long agreement to fax back.
  • Pull a single lab result or form out of a scanned medical packet.
  • Separate a chapter or section from a large report.
  • Remove blank cover or separator pages a scanner inserted.
  • Send a recipient only the section that concerns them.

Split, then fax

Because the extracted file is smaller, it transmits faster and is less likely to hit a recipient's size cap. If you need to recombine pages from different sources after splitting, use the Merge PDF tool. If the pages came out sideways from a scanner, run them through Rotate PDF first. The splitting itself happens entirely in your browser, so your document is not uploaded just to extract pages. Sending a fax does transmit the file, as any fax must.

About this tool

How does it work?

Upload your PDF, enter the page numbers you want to keep, and click Extract. The tool copies exactly those pages into a new PDF file. Your original is not modified. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Is my file private?

Yes. Your PDF never leaves your device. All processing happens in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to any server, so there is no privacy risk even for sensitive documents.

When should I split before faxing?

Many fax recipients only need specific pages from a document. Splitting lets you send exactly what is required without exposing the full file. It also reduces transmission time and keeps fax records clean.

What formats does it accept?

PDF files only. If you have a Word document, image, or other file, convert it to PDF first, then use this tool to extract the pages you need before faxing.

Ready to fax those pages?

FaxDrop delivers faxes in under 90 seconds. Free to start. No fax machine needed.
