The origin story
We needed to send a fax in 2026. It was terrible. So we fixed it.
FaxDrop was built out of genuine frustration. Here is what happened.
FaxDrop is a free online fax service built by a small team in Syracuse, NY. It was created because fax machines are still required by industries that matter, and nobody should need hardware to send a document.
It started with a DBA filing.
I was registering a new business name with New York State and discovered that the fastest way to submit the form was by fax. Not email. Not an online portal. Fax. In 2026.
So I did what anyone would do. I asked AI to find me an online fax service.
AI very confidently pointed me to a couple of the most popular options. Oh my goodness. All of them looked the same. Like they were built at the bottom of the dot-com bubble and nobody had touched them since. The first site failed completely. I tried another. It worked, barely. I paid the $3.99, suffered through the experience, and submitted my form.
Then, per my usual way of doing things, I went down what was supposed to be a 10-minute rabbit hole.
I looked at the traffic these sites were getting. Millions of monthly visitors. Millions. On sites that had not been meaningfully updated in years. Sites with broken flows, ancient UIs, and $20-per-month subscriptions just to send an occasional fax.
Fax is obviously a dead technology, right? Right?
Wrong. Over 17 billion faxes are sent every year. Hospitals, law firms, insurance companies, government agencies, and real estate offices all still run on fax. Not because people love it. Because the systems that receive faxes are decades old and nobody is replacing them any time soon.
The problem was not fax. The problem was that the tools to send a fax had not evolved in 20 years. The category was enormous and completely ignored.
Nearly 100 hours of building, testing, and refining later: FaxDrop.
It is not complicated technology. It just needs to work.
Upload your document. Enter a fax number. Send. Delivered in under 90 seconds. Free to start, no card required.
